Toffee the Honorary Reindeer Elf

Our Elf was on strike, but he decided it wasn't fair and wasn't really being very affective.  He wasn't getting to have fun and the kids weren't seeming to care about his strike anyway, so he decided to call his strike quits and get back to doing what he loves to do, have fun.  After all, he IS an elf.

The Story of Toffee the reindeer elf starts out many many years ago.  We all KNOW the story of Rudolph and how absolutely amazing he is and how he saved Christmas and helped pull Santa's sleigh.  He really has gone down in history, just like his very own song predicted.  Rudolph's story may have ended and had a happy ending, but Rudolph's very tiny younger brother, was only getting started.

Poor Toffee was born the very tiniest reindeer of all.  He was so very tiny that he was always forgotten and was always the last to arrive.  He tried to help Santa but everything he did, turned into a disastor because he was just too tiny to help Santa.

He tried to pull the sleigh but that was definetley not going to happen he was just far far far too tiny, and building Santa a smaller sleigh was apparently not an option.

Poor Toffee was so heart broken.  He wanted so badly to follow in the hoof prints of his big brother Rudolph but all he seemed to do was mess everything up.

Toffee decided that he would find ways to spread good cheer throughout the North Pole, so he started to pull little pranks on everyone.  He thought his pranks were hilarious, and at first they were, but then Toffee got a bit carried away and almost ruined Christmas.

Once Toffee realized that his pranks, while meant to be fun and to spread cheer weren't helping either he was the saddest, most tiniest little elf in the whole of the North Pole.

He decided he had to do, what he had to do.  He was going to pack his bags and leave the North Pole.  No one needed him around anyway.

At around that same time Mr. and Mrs. Clause saw how very sad little Toffee was so they secretly met with some of the top elves, Rudolph, Dasher, and Dancer and they discussed what on earth they should do with Toffee.

Unfortunately, Toffee thought they were meeting together to plan how to get rid of him, so he knew his choice to leave the North Pole was the right one.

He packed his little trunk and and began his treck to leave the North Pole.  On his way he met the Mail delivery elves who were having an awful time getting their mail delivered as some spiteful snow sprites were giving them issues as they tracked back to the North Pole.

Toffee rushed to the aid of the troubled Elves to help.  Many Christmas letters been lost down an icey crevase.  The Elves, as small as they were knew they couldn't possibly reach through and get the letters.  They needed someone small, or the letters would be lost and Christmas would be ruined for several children.

At that moment Toffee appeared, and hearing what the matter was he happily volunteered to go down the crevase and retrieve the lost Christmas letters to Santa.

He pulled out several envelopes that were all addressed to Santa at the North Pole, but several letters really caught his eyes.  He handed the letters to the elves after carefully retrieving them.  The Elves told Toffee to come back to the North Pole because they wanted to tell Santa how very HELPFUL Toffee had been.

Toffee went back with the Elves, but was afraid what Santa would have to say, he just knew for certain that Santa was going to send him away.

When they arrived at the North Pole the head Mail Delivery Elf spoke privately with Santa as Toffee waited nervously outside.

He waited.  And he waited.  For what seemed like hours.

Just then Mr. and Mrs. Clause appeared. The addressed Toffee, and all of the Elves and Reindeer that had gathered around.

Santa made a proclomation, and Toffee braced himself for the worst.

Santa said "We have a team member who has felt left out, because he felt too small for all of the jobs here at the North Pole.  While his size may be small his heart is larger than any other I've ever met.  This young reindeer jumped to the aid of our Mail Deliver Elves in their time of need and saved Christmas for several children! A reindeer that brave and kind deserves a very special spot as an honorary Elf!"

Toffee was stunned, he flipped with glee! He couldn't believe what he was hearing, HIM an honorary elf?

"But Santa, what would I do as an Elf?  I've already TRIED to do all of their jobs, and I'm just too small everything I do, well I'm all hooves!"

Santa said "Toffee, don't fret because I have just the right job for you.  Since you wanted to save Christmas for children, I think maybe you shall, or atleast do your best.  It's up to the children to do the rest"

Toffee pondered at what this could mean.

Santa continued.  "Toffe I want you to join my Elf Scout team! I want you to go ahead and watch over a certain family, one of your choosing.  A family that has children that are struggling to stay on the nice list this year. You bring happiness and joy with your pranks and your cheer, just don't get carried away again letter reindeer!"

Toffee was elated and puffed up with pride! He couldn't imagine the joys he would spread!

Santa pulled out the letters that had fallen into the crevase that Toffee had saved.  He told Toffee to choose one of these families to watch over for Christmas.  Toffee recognized 6 of the envelopes right away and knew they were the family he wanted to watch over.  6 little letters all from the same family.  3 children and of course they wrote a letter for their good pets too, and they had their mom and dad write a letter too! What a great family, to keep the belief in Santa alive.  They had taken such care and in writing their letters, Toffee just knew he had to see this family!

Toffee was granted some magic from Santa, there were rules that Toffee had to be sure to follow.  Toffee's magic would work, as long as no child picked him up.  He had to stay untouched by child's hands or the magic would be over and he would be sent back to the North Pole and that child would find coal in his stocking instead of goodies!

Toffee snuck into the home he was going to be watching and scoped things out, he knew that these children could do it, they could be wonderful and get back on Santa's good list that they were just barely on the naughty list anyway they just had to resist the things that they did.  He noticed these children would fight, they fought all the time! That would have to be nixxed to get gifts from St. Nick! The children also fought sleep, no amount of counting sheep was going to help here.  Toffee wasn't so sure that the Sandman even had enough sleeping sand to help with this job!

He could tell that the children, their hearts were in the right places.  He wanted to give these children a chance at wonderful Christmas.

So he  got right to work being Santa's big helper!
