Fun Fun Fun in the Summer Sun

Summer is both flying by and dragging on.  My daughter is in her last week of summer school for her preschool.  The boys didn't need the summer school, and part of me is happy for that...but the crazed and frazzled MOMMY part of me says why oh WHY aren't they in summer school too?

Summer has brought out the worst in my sons, it's been crazy. My sons have been fighting non stop.  I'm talking brutal fight matches.  It's insane.  Every little thing sets them off lately.  I don't know if they are just bored, or if the heat is making them turn into crazed little psychos or if they just want to send me to the nut house.

It's too hot for them to play outside so we're stuck staying in the house, that's always thrilling.  There is only so much time you can spend stuck in a small house with your kids.

We have managed to do a few fun things this summer.  For Father's day we attended a Dads Day festival at a local church, it's a huge event and wow the kids had a great time.
My sweet little boy Marshall just loves hot dogs,
in fact they were his favorite part of the
whole Dads Day Festival
Keegan took his time savoring the
rare soda, he decided Sierra Mist was
pretty darn good!
Kamilah's favorite part of the
Dads Day Festival was riding
the horses, and riding in the Monster Truck.
She has a huge soft spot for horses,
dogs, giraffes, and panda bears.
She's such a good kid.
Keegan was absolutely giddy to giddy'up on
this little pony! He thought this was the coolest thing
he had ever done.
BIG smiles from Keegan as he rode the pony.
What is Keegan watching SOOO
very intently?
A BMX trick rider. How cool is that.
Keegan and Marshall looked on in awe as this
man performed his stunts.  Keegan looked
at me grinning saying "I CAN DO THAT,
ON MY BIKE!"  Ohhh boy! My little dare devil.
My husband is seated in the 2nd window from the front.
He and the kids had a fantastic time riding the monster
truck! How many people get this opportunity?
There they go off on their little ride in the
totally awesome monster truck.

Later the kids got to watch a
cool monster truck show.

Not sure who was more excited, me or the kids!
I've always thought Monster Trucks were
pretty darn cool.
My husband hanging out with our kids next to the
Monster Truck after the show was over.
Stupid tire was taller than I am.

This past weekend we went to the lake and did some swimming and had a little picnic.  The kids always have a fantastic time at the lake.  They ask to go all the time. They love to swim, and the next time we go they want to go fishing.

Marshall and Kamilah discussing their sand castle
building plans.
Kams running into the lake with wild carefree
happiness.
Keegan having his mini Bay Watch moment! HA!
Marshall doing a surprise attack on Daddy!
You'd think the man would know not to splash
his kids, they will all gang up on him, and they will win.
Sweet Keegan, even on a day in the high 90's
he finds a way to freeze and have his
little teeth chattering! He needed
snuggles from Mommy and a nice beach towel
to get all warmed up for more splashing in the lake.
Giving her baby brother a piggy back ride
because the water made him tired.
Every year we take a picture at this same location
it's a little ledge.  Last year the water was
way way down, this year the water was only
a couple of feet away from touching the ledge.
Last year it was a long drop down and nothing but sand.
Even with my sons driving me batty from time to time we've had a good summer.  I honestly can't believe that June is really almost over.  We still have some things left to do on our "to do" list.

  • Camp in the back yard, but we need it to QUIT raining long enough for the yard to dry out some!
  • Set up the telescope outside so the kids can star gaze (plan on doing this the night we go camping in the back yard).
  • Make smores (again on the night we are camping in the back yard)
  • Go fishing with the kiddos (hopefully in the next couple of weekends).
  • Go to the public pool
  • Go to the drive in movies
  • Take the kids to the roller skating rink (since they closed down the local bowling alley we now have to drive 22mi to get to the skating rink since we can't go bowling anymore).
  • Let Kams have a sleep over at a friends house and one at our house.
  • Take the dogs to the dog park
  • Go for ice cream
  • Hopefully hit up the zoo (That's a maybe, might do that this fall).
All in all, looking forward to a lovely little summer.  It would be lovelier if our central air wasn't such a piece O' poop.  We *THOUGHT* they had this all taken care of last year, apparently not.  Tired of sweating to death every afternoon.

We currently have a new little foster pup, her name is River.  If my husband and mother in law have anything to say about it River will be a permanent part of the family.  They are in love with her.  She is a sweet heart, and she does fit in perfectly with Molly and Karmen.  This jury is still out on a final decision though.

Work is...work.  A couple of weeks ago it was HIGHLY frustrating.  Last week wasn't bad.  This week started out with me having Monday and Tuesday off.  Back to work tomorrow.  We'll see how the rest of this week goes.  Still always putting in other applications to find something that offers more hours, but at the moment I'm staying where I am.  It isn't THE worst job in the world, I do get to do what I love to do and that is bake yummy desserts.  When I'm "allowed" I get to decorate a few cakes, so that is nice as I LOVE to decorate cakes.  Could do without the constant stress though, but I think that just goes with jobs sometimes.  Most of the time just have to let things go in one ear and out the other, and keep doing what I KNOW to do and not let things get to me. It is what it is.

My Mother in law has been living here for a couple of weeks now.  It's going fine, I'm lucky to have a good mother in law! While I'm working she's helping with the laundry (yay! Because we all know it doesn't wash itself).  It's nice to have an extra helping hand around the house and with the kids.  Though I wouldn't say the kids enjoy having an extra person getting on to them! HA! Grandma spoils them more than anything though so they don't have much to complain about.

So now it's off to bed for this tired mama!
